At St James Club

Our daughter and the Des Moines Elementary PTSA helped us win a week at St James Club in Antigua, an island in the West Indies. When we arrived and were shown our room, we were very happy.

We had a nice view of the Atlantic from our deck and a firm king sized bed to sleep on. A nice pool with a great bar for Water Aerobics (Jane is in that photo).

A little cove, called Mamora Bay had a great beach with a BBQ bar and grill.

In this little tide pool, we saw schools of mullet, and sergeant major fish, damsel fish, needle fish, and even a small barracuda!
And resident cats patrolled the beach and the area under the deck. This little on looked like our cat at home - a Dilute Tortoise Shell.
This is the view of Nelson's Boatyard on English Harbor - it was built by Captain Horatio Nelson and his gang in 1790-91 in order that the British could maintain their war ships at Antigua. Here are some more photos of Nelson's Boatyard:

And if you look closely at this photo you can see the hummingbird - there were several species and this one was a Green-throated Carib but we also saw the Antillean Crested Hummingbird at several other locations.
You have to take a taxi drive up to Shirley Heights for the views of not only Antigua, but Montserrat, Guadeloupe, and Nevis.

After 7 days, we flew home via Miami, leaving Antigua at 5PM local time and arriving in Seattle at Midnight local Time, and I promise you, that is a long day!
